Abstract
Platelet aggregation tests were performd in 20 headache patients and 21 control subjects using the optical density method.
ADP reagent was used as a platelet aggregation inducer.
The results are as follow:
1. The platelet aggregability of the headache patients in response to ADP does not differ from that of the normal controls. This finding shows that the biochemical causative factor of the migraine can not applied to the headache in general.
2. The platelet aggregability of the patients has no difference between headache patients with and without pain at the time of blood sampling. This excludes the possibility that the pain itself changes the platelet aggregability.
Above negative data do not rule out the necessity of the platelet function study on the headache, because there is a clinically significant re,4tionship between platelet aggregation inhibitors and the analgesics for the headache. Further clinical studies are recommended.
